Doclinks is a very usefull feature in Notes and have been a part of the platform since the start, back in 1989, where version 1.0 was released.

Simply put a doclink is a bookmark for a Notes document in a Notes database and by clicking this doclink you open the Notes document it represents. Doclinks can have many uses but I’ll mention two obvious uses, replacement for including attachments in mail and workflow / business logic. More »

A recent cool feature in Notes is the ability to save messages as EML files on your preferred storage. This feature can be used as a backup feature or as documentation in legal cases, where all information of the mail is needed. The files is saved in the industry standard format EML (a plain text representation of mail message in MIME format).
